Jokowi, Xi Jinping to Inspect Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail Poject Next Week

9 November 2022 22:00 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia’s President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Chinese President Xi Jinping will monitor the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail (KCJB) project online from Bali on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. This was confirmed by Didiek Hartantyo as the president director of state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI).

At the showcase, a dynamic test trial will be conducted from Tegalluar to Cikopo which is about 20 kilometers long.

Didiek outlined the project’s key milestone towards the commercial operation date or COD in June 2023. “As of November 2, we have turned the power on for electrification with PLN up to 150 kilovolts in Tegalluar,” said Didiek in a hearing with Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR) in the Parliament Complex, Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

In the showcase, the electric multiple units (EMU) will only be run from Tegalluar until Cikopo, he informed. “We will test it first tomorrow morning.”

According to him, all 11 EMU were targeted to arrive on February 28, 2023. At present, there are only two EMU. On March 21, 2023, the 142-kilometer track laying will also be completed.

The KAI will thus conduct a static test and complete the system integration on March 31, 2023, so that testing and commissioning or integrated trials will begin on April 4, 2023.

“It is hoped that on June 30, 2023, the trail operation will be completed. So hopefully, the operating permit from the Transportation Ministry will already be issued for us to carry out COD,” said Didiek.

He further claimed that the physical development of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project as of the second week of October 2022 has reached 79.51 percent completion. Meanwhile, the progress of investment absorption is 90.6 percent.
