TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned telecommunication operator Telkomsel has established a collaboration with state-airport operator Angkasa Pura II to expand and strengthen the 5G telecommunication coverage at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area.
Representatives of the two companies have ratified a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 14. This expands the initial launch of the 5G facility back in May 2021.
Soekarno-Hatta president director Muhammad Awalludin expects the 5G service to provide an elevated digital experience for travelers passing the airport. It is also meant to better support future international-scale events in Indonesia, such as the current G20 Presidency.
“It will be the first Indonesian airport that provides 5G access for travelers and offers an unmatched digital experience that supports seamless journey experience and elevates the service standard of Soekarno-Hatta as an airport,” said Awalludin in a press statement.
This goal aligns with the airport’s status as one of the country’s vital objects, as stated by Telkomsel sales director Adiwinahyu Basuki Sigit.
“Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is one of the vital objects of the country, especially as an entry and departure point for foreign tourists to delegates from various countries that visit this country. Facilities provided by the airport represent Indonesia before the world,” said Sigit.
