TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The Head of the Bandung Health Agency’s Disease Prevention and Control Division, Rosye Arosdiani, said the COVID-19 vaccination target in the region had reached 99 percent to date. The remaining one percent is those from the elderly group, which hit 80 percent, and people who are still hesitant to get vaccinated.
“While in fact, to face the Omicron variant, we have to ensure people have a strong immune system in a bid to prevent the Omicron from infecting us,” said Rosye in online talk show Government Talk on Monday, December 6.
Based on the agency’s data, 1,934,133 people (99.07 percent) have received the first dose of the vaccine, and 1,704,046 people (87.28 percent) have got the second dose or fully vaccinated. The total vaccination target is 1,952,358 people. “It’s targeted to complete this month,” he added.
According to her, the virus transmission in the city has been more under control with only ten cases daily as a result of close contact tracing. At present, the enforcement of community activity restrictions or PPKM Level 2 is in place in Bandung. On December 24, the status will be increased to Level 3 as an effort to limit public mobility during year-end holidays.
Rosye also asked all public elements to jointly oversee the PPKM policy while implementing the 5M health protocols, viz. washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining distance, reducing mobility, and staying away from crowds.
