Schools In Bandung Closed Following Covid-19 Case Findings

22 October 2021 16:41 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bandung city government in West Java has decided to temporarily stop classroom schooling (PTM) in a number of schools after health officials reported new Covid-19 cases in schools exercising physical attendance.

Bandung City Secretary Ema Sumarna said on Friday, October 22, 2021, that the temporary suspension is the consequence of a previously implemented regulation, which require school activities to be stopped if confirmed coronavirus cases among students, teachers, or school management reach 5 percent or more.

"Once cases exceed the maximum percentage, [teaching activities] should be stopped and reverted back to online remote-schooling," said Ema on Friday, October 22, 2021, Antaranews reported.

Names of the schools in Bandung that were temporarily closed were not disclosed. Ema said that other schools can continue as long as confirmed cases remain below the maximum percentage set by the government.

There are currently 72 active cases recorded in Bandung CIty, which is a fortunate development after the previous week this region recorded a daily average of 90 to 100 cases.
