TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, known by many for his nickname SBY, on Tuesday conveyed his appreciation to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and other national figures as he recovers from his treatment following a surgery to lift his prostate cancer.
“Specifically, I would like to thank the President Jokowi and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin for their care, help, and attention as I am treated in the United States,” the sixth Indonesian president said in an Instagram post uploaded from his late-wife’s account, @aniyudhoyono on November 23.
He also conveyed appreciation to former president Megawati, former VP Jusuf Kalla, and former VP Boediono. The last two served as vice presidents for SBY’s administration.
SBY did not forget to thank Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong and Singaporean foreign affairs minister Vivian Balakrishnan, who both sent letters in support of his hospital treatment. SBY will remain in Rochester, U.S. to continue his recovery period for some time.
