TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA) in a written statement on Tuesday assures that the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup which was scheduled to be held last week is slated for this weekend, coinciding with the World Superbike (WSBK) final round at the Mandalika Circuit.
The Asia Talent Cup paddock was forced to cancel last week’s race after Dorna Sports deemed there were not enough track marshals available to conduct a race safely, Antaranews reported.
MGPA President Ricky Baheramsjah, according to the same statement, said both series will be held on the same racing weekend on November 19-21. It is expected to be a jam-packed racing week as Asia Talent Cup’s Round 3 and Round 4 will be held on the same week.
Four Asia Talent Cup races will be separated into two days on November 20-21, while November 19 will be used for free practices.
“We apologize to racing fans after the IATC was forced to be rescheduled,” said the MGPA president director. “The first IATC race was initially scheduled to help test the new circuit’s facilities and help identify areas that can be improved.”
The lack of track marshals at Mandalika Circuit last week, according to Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) chairperson, is being taken care of as it is one of Dorna Sports’ crucial safety aspects upon hosting international-scale racing events.
