TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria hoped that the level of the COVID-19 public mobility restrictions or PPKM in Jakarta could be dropped again as the extended PPKM Level 3 ended today, September 13.
However, Riza said the provincial government would still abide by the decisions taken by the central government regarding the PPKM status of the capital.
“We are still waiting for the central government’s decision. Hopefully, there will be improvements, but whatever it is, we will obey it,” said Riza at Jakarta City Hall, Monday, September 13.
If the level is decreased, it is almost certain that there will be various relaxations in the existing rules. But according to Riza, it will be adjusted to the PPKM policy and the community discipline in complying with the health protocols.
“If the public discipline is higher, it is possible to relax the restrictions but we ask the people to keep staying at home, carry out the existing health protocols,” the Deputy Governor underlined.
He opined that when the COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed, people will possibly go outside of their homes. The public interaction will thus increase, and there will be more crowds leading to the rising potential for virus transmission. “So please, everyone must be careful and vigilant,” Riza remarked.
