TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan in a coordination meeting on Friday ordered regional military commanders and police chiefs to ensure people are receiving the government's social assistance (Bansos).
“I ask for confirmation, don’t let anyone starve. I ask you to conduct patrols, check the people who do not have food to eat, and go help them immediately,” said Luhut Pandjaitan in the meeting on Friday, July 9.
The Indonesian Military and the National Police are tasked to distribute the government's social assistance in the form of 10 kilograms of rice, which was not included in the assistance prior to Emergency PPKM.
The government has distributed three types of social assistance to the public with the first being Rp13.96 trillion in the Hopeful Family Program (PKH) for 10 million families, Rp45.12 trillion for 18.8 million residents in the non-cash government aid (BPNT), and Rp6.1 trillion for 10 million residents in the cash social assistance (BST).
Both the recipients of the BST and PKH government social assistance will receive additional assistance of 10 kilograms of rice.
