TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Monday has officially instructed the immediate distribution of government social assistance or bansos amid the enforcement of emergency PPKM (public activity restriction) from July 3-20.
This was announced by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani in a teleconference after a plenary meeting today. “As for the social protection program, this was instructed by the President to be accelerated this week,” she said.
The government is eyeing to support at least 10 million people classified as impoverished and "prone" to the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic who are listed on the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).
Apart from that, there will also be 33.8 million people categorized as KPM (family beneficiaries) who will be receiving many forms of specific government social assistance, including the direct cash aid (BST). The BST itself is a Rp300,000 government cash aid distributed early in the month and Rp600,000 for May and June.
The direct cash aid will be distributed via postal services while other government social assistance will be distributed by members and networks of state-bank associations amid the emergency PPKM.
