TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia continues to set new records for the number of new Covid-19 cases reported in one day. On Wednesday afternoon, July 7, authorities reported 34,379 new confirmed infections in the last 24 hours.

Wednesday's daily count brings up Indonesia's official caseload total to 2,379,397 peoople. The new cases were obtained from testing 199,143 specimens.

On the same day, the daily Covid-19 death toll also new high of 1,040, the National Covid-19 Task Force reported. This brings the nation's official death toll to 62,908 to date.

Meanwhile, the number of recovered patients only increased by 14,835 people nationwide, less than half of the new cases. The country now has recorded 1,973,388 recoveries.

Indonesia currently has 343,101 cases, up by 18,504 from the day before.
