TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin appealed to people who are returning home after Christmas and New Year holidays to maintain discipline in complying with the predetermined health protocols in an effort to curb the Covid-19 transmission.
“For those returning home after vacation, do not immediately go out. If possible, stay home for 5 or 10 days until you are proven to be healthy, and then you may go to work again,” said Budi in a written statement as quoted from the ministry’s official page Kemkes.go.id on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
The implementation of health protocols by the public, Budi underlined, would greatly help the handling of Covid-19, especially for medical workers in hospitals.
“Many of our health workers have passed away. So please respect them. We need to ensure that we are healthy once we get home after vacation,” said the new Health Minister.
Hospitals serving Covid-19 patients are the responsibility of the Health Ministry. For this reason, Budi said his side would always maintain communication with leaders, local governments, and heads of the health agencies to ensure the readiness of hospitals in their regions to provide treatment for patients.
