TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Indonesian Doctors Society (PDIB) chairperson Dr. James Allen Rarung had called for people to continue heeding to the government’s health protocol even if in the future people have received their Covid-19 vaccination shots.
“The health protocol is clearly meant to prevent individuals and society as a whole from being exposed to infectious diseases and also break the chain of infections,” said James to Antaranews.
He also reminded people about the possibility of contracting the Covid-19 disease for a second time despite having been vaccinated. James addressed a public assumption - and debunks it - which assumes that once a person is vaccinated they do not need to adhere to health protocols again.
“After receiving the vaccine injection, it is better to maintain physical fitness and continue to implement the 3M protocol [washing hands, wearing a face mask, and maintaining physical distances] in our daily lives,” said the PDIB chair.
