TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The spokesperson of the COVID-19 handling task force, Professor Wiku Adisasmito, on Friday asserted that survivors or those who had recovered from COVID-19 must protect themselves even further through vaccinations.
“Implement the precautionary principle, including those who were infected. Don’t think that they are free from COVID-19 and that they have the antibody. It isn’t like that,” said Wiku Adisasmito in a virtual discussion on December 18.
He believed that all individuals, be them survivors or not, must continue to abide by the 3M health protocols that required people to wear face masks, wash their hands, and maintain physical distancing.
Wiku acknowledged that an antibody would eventually grow inside a survivor. However, he added, what needed to be underlined was the immunity and varying levels of diseases a person underwent, and that it would be better to vaccinate oneself once the vaccines were available.
