TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) and the Health Ministry on Friday announced the price ceiling for the COVID-19 rapid antigen tests across facilities in Indonesia to help control their prices.
“The upper ceiling for rapid antigen swab tests is Rp250 thousand on Java Island and Rp275 thousand for outside of Java Island,” said Azhar Jaya, the Directorate General of Health Services Secretary in a virtual press conference on Friday, December 18, 2020.
The rapid antigen test that uses the swab method is used to quickly detect the SARS-CoV-2 antigen from samples that were taken from a subject’s respiratory tract. This type of testing is deemed more accurate compared to the previous rapid antibody tests.
He explained that the upper ceiling of the COVID-19 rapid antigen swab tests only applies to people who intend to undergo the tests themselves.
