Based on the ship's crews information, the accident did not occur in the waters of the Seribu Islands, but in the Java Sea. “About 60 miles northeast of Seribu Islands,” Herbert said.
Herbert added that the weather in the waters of the Seribu Islands and surrounding areas was indeed bad. The harbourmaster has issued a warning to boats that normally operate in the waters of Seribu Islands. “Bad weather is predicted to occur until January 2,” he said.
The head of the Weather Forecast sub-directorate of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Agie Wandala Putra said that 2.5 to 4 meter high waves were likely to occur. In addition, several regions, including Jakarta, have the potential for strong winds.
Until now, the shipwreck of the sinking boat has not been found. Three harbourmaster offices of Tanjung Priok, Seribu Islands, and Marunda, have issued a warning to boats passing around the waters of the Seribu Islands to take cautious measures.
