TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Many people consume eggs on a daily basis, especially as a breakfast menu, for its high protein nutrients. Eggs contain many essential materials required for our bodies, such as protein, fat, riboflavin, choline, lutein, zeaxanthin, selenium, and so on.
The egg yolks are rich in lecithin which effectively counteracts sclerosis disease as it helps reduce cholesterol levels. The yolk is a natural source of nutrients such as amino acids and fatty acids that are vital for the brain development, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamin A to maintain healthy skin, teeth and bones, and vitamin B12 that plays an important role for the body's metabolism and the nervous system.
Those health benefits make the eggs as one of the highly recommended breakfast menus. Many prefer sunny side up eggs to fried eggs as to prevent damages on its nutrients.
Sunnyside up egg means it is cooked with the yolk up and is not flipped. The yolk is still runny. Whereas the fried egg is when the egg is flipped, and the yolk is cooked hard.
However, like a double-sided coin, there is a threat of eating half-cooked eggs. Chicken eggs and ducks are particularly vulnerable to Salmonella bacteria. These bacteria not only infect eggs with a damaged or cracked shell but also eggs whose clean and smooth skin.
The effect will not be immediately felt, but when you are in poor health condition, consuming eggs which have contaminated by Salmonella bacteria will generate an ill. Common infections caused by bacteria are abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fever, or even typhus. Thus, sunny side up eggs has a bigger risk of being poison for your body.
