TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Talaud earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 has no potential for the tsunami. It occurred on November 20, at 9:09 a.m. and was centered in the north of Maluku waters.
“The epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers. It was located at 2.82 North Latitude and 126.92 East Longitude,” said the spokesman for the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Hary Tirto Djatmiko to Tempo, Tuesday, November 20.
According to Hary, the epicenter was 137 kilometers southeast of the Talaud Islands, South Sulawesi. From Morotai Island, North Maluku, the distance is 172 kilometers to the northwest.
“The earthquake point was about 231 kilometers northwest of Ternate,” he said.
