TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 has jolted Bitung, North Sulawesi, today, October 13, at 11:34 local times.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported the quake was at a depth of 97 kilometers.

The epicenter located at 1.36 degrees north latitude and 125.46 east longitude or 38 kilometers southwest of Bitung, North Sulawesi.

BMKG noted the tremor had no tsunami potential.

Previously on September 28, Central Sulawesi, particularly Palu City and the vicinity, hit by tsunami after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake shook the region. The death toll reached over 2,000 and more than 70,000 people were evacuated.
