BNPB Targets Evacuation of Palu Quake Victims Completed on Oct 11

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in a coordination meeting at the national assistance post, targeting the evacuation of victims killed by the earthquake in Palu, Central Sulawesi, could be completed on October 11.
“The evacuation is targeted to be completed on October 11, in accordance with the response period of disaster emergency,” said Head of BNPB Data, Information and Public Relations, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho in his office, Jakarta, Sunday, October 7.
The government set the response period of 7.4 on the Richter scale earthquake and tsunami that rocked the areas of Palu, Donggala, Sigi, Parigi Moutong and Pasangkayu is valid for 14 days, from 28 September to 11 October.

BNPB noted that there were 1,763 dead victims who had been successfully evacuated, but there were still 265 people missing and 152 people still in ruins. BNPB also targeted that there will be no more isolated areas and lack of assistance on October 11.
Sutopo said the number of personnel deployed amounted to 8,223 people, consisting of 6,338 from the military, 1,560 from civilians and 325 from the foreign military. There are 51 heavy equipments used for the evacuation.
