6.2 Magnitude Quake Hits Lombok Again

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 6.2 magnitude aftershock jolted Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), today, August 9 at 12:25 local times.
BNPB spokesperson Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said the epicenter was at six kilometers northwest of North Lombok at a depth of 12 kilometers. “The tremor intensity ranges medium to strong level,” said Sutopo in a written statement, Thursday, August 9. No tsunami warning issued.

The earthquake caused public panic at Lapangan Tanjung Hospital and the Disaster Central Post in North Lombok due to the 3 meters of walls of Tanjung Military Headquarter (Koramil), near the public kitchen, was wrecked, as reported by Antara.
Sutopo explained aftershocks might further occur in Lombok following the deadly magnitude-7 earthquake on Sunday, August 5. BMKG recorded as many as 355 aftershocks hit the region since this morning, August 9, and 17 of the tremors were felt pretty strong.
Lombok earthquake killed hundreds of victims and that the number was subject to change since the evacuation process was still underway.
