TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) spokesman Maj. Gen. M. Sabrar Fadhilah said the army has evacuated 148 foreign tourists who are affected by the Lombok earthquake. The tourists were evacuated from Gili Trawangan, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on Monday, August 6.

In total, 758 people in Gili Trawangan are affected Sunday's quake that measured 7.0 on the Richter scale.

According to Sabrar, the TNI worked with the police and local authorities to relocate the tourists. He said on Monday that the victims left Gili Trawangan in groups, using boats.

"So far we have not received reports of lost lives from the evacuated foreigners. We are still gathering data from authorities," he said.

The earthquake hit a number of areas in West Nusa Tenggara and Bali on Sunday evening, August 5. The BMKG said the quake was the main shock of a previous earthquake that hit on July 29, with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale.

The BNPB said that 98 lives were lost because of the earthquake, while 236 are injured. Thousands of houses and buildings are damaged, displacing people who are now taking refuge in many areas.
