TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Five witnesses have been examined by Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Resort related to the fire at JW Sky Lounge in Terminal 2E Soekarno-Hatta Airport. They are two JW Sky Lounge employees, two Mutiara Lounge employees and one security guard.
“From the examination results, all claimed that the fire originated from an electrical device inside the JW Sky Lounge,” Soekarno-Hatta PoliceResort Chief Sr.Comm. CH Patoppoi said Tuesday, July 7.
Patoppoi said that the source of the fire came from a food heating device (oven) that has been connected to a socket since 3am, whereas the restaurant and lounge opens at 5am. The fire is believed to have been ignited by a short circuit from the restaurant's oven.
PT Angkasa Pura II CEO Budi Karya Sumadi believed the fire that scorched the lounge area of the restaurant is due to the tenant’s negligence.
The airport management, Budi said, will give a sanction to the tenant that caused the fire. “Closure in the form of compensation will be taken into account,” he said.
