Bengkulu Bus Crashes into Ravine, Kills 5

TEMPO.CO, Bengkulu - Darma Duta bus serving Lampung – Bengkulu route yesterday plunged into a ravine at Tebing Batu, Lemong district, Pesisir Barat regency, Lampung province, at around 8.25 pm local time. At least five passengers died in the accident.
Slamet, one of the survivors said the Darma Duta bus was carrying 22 passengers travelling in one group. It was heading Desa Giri Mulya village, Bengkulu Utara regency, to attend a wedding reception.
Another survivor Fajarudin added that the group did not only travel by bus, but also by five private cars.
"It seemed that the bus driver was unfamiliar with the terrain. When he overtook in a high speed, the driver was shocked and the bus immediately veered and plunged into the ravine," Fajarudin said.
The dead victims were Wayan (45), Darlina, Farida (58), Abdul Gani (70), and Murni (60).
The deceased were planned to be taken to Lampung but as of now the bodies are still kept at the mortuary of Kaur Regency hospital.
In the meantime, the local police are still evacuating the body of the bus.
