TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Land disputes are commonplace in countries with overpopulation and unstoppable urbanization like in China and Indonesia. Land disputes also often lead to conflicts. Recently, a land dispute even claimed the live of a 3-year-old girl in China. She died after a bulldozer ran her down.
Hong Xiaorou died under the construction vehicle next to her home in Zhangzhou, in the southeastern province of Fujian, China, according to Daily Mail, Friday, August 30, 2013.
Her family was in the middle of a dispute over the acquisition of their land and claimed they were attempting to stop building workers from flattening their home when the girl died.
"I have to meet with the officials. They have to be responsible for this," said Hong Bingsheng, her father. "Is land clearing more important than human life?"
Her body was then taken to a local government office. People who took her there wanted to show them the victim due to the land clearance.
