TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The emergency hospital operated by Indonesia Emergency Medical Team (Ina-EMT) has in total treated nearly 2,000 people affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey, precisely in the City of Hassa, Hatay Province.

Antaranews reported that until Saturday, Feb. 25, the 9th day of the operation, the hospital has served 1,928 patients, as stated by the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara.

From an average of around 150 people per day, Ina-EMT only accepts around 200 patients a day or at the estimated capacity.

"They're so keen [to visit the emergency hospital]. They seem comfortable getting treatment at Ina-EMT. The stories of how comfortable getting treatment at Ina-EMT spread by word of mouth," said Ina-EMT deputy chief dr. Corona Rintawan.

Even though they have the operating hours but the hospital still serves the patients coming out of the operating hours. This allows patients from more remote locations, and patients who work during the day in emergency response activities, to receive health services.

"About 70 percent of the Ina-EMT patients come with complaints of breathing problems. Maybe due to weather factors, shelter conditions, and dust due to the process of dismantling debris which is still ongoing," said Dr. Corona.

In addition to providing medical services, Ina-EMT also provides post-disaster mental health (psychosocial) services on-site and visits villages around the hospital site. The targets of this mental health treatment are both adults and children.

Ina-EMT started the operation of the field hospital in the City of Hassa, Hatay, on February 15. Ina-EMT is one of nine emergency facilities operated in Hatay Province, the region most affected by the M7.8 earthquake on Feb. 6. Besides the variety of its treatments, the Indonesian emergency hospital is also widely known for its hospitality.
