TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has identified 151 bodies of victims of the Cianjur Earthquake, West Java. The number is less than half of the disaster's total casualty.

The DVI team's spokesman, Brig. Gen. Nyoman Eddy said that the 151 identified victims including two out of the four bodies were found on Tuesday at noon, November 29.

In a press release issued by the West Java Police on Wednesday, November 30, Nyoman said that the victims were identified using DNA matching, fingerprints, medical records, and personal effects. The data are contained in the post-mortem (PM) and antemortem (AM) information taken from the victims' families.

The two victims recently identified are:

  1. Nurhasanah, female (43)

Address: Cugenang Village, RT 003 RW 001, Cugenang District, Cianjur Regency.

  1. Roni Nurjaman, male (27)

Address: Balong Village, RT 5 RW 4, Suci Village, Karang Pawitan District, Garut Regency.

As of November 29, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that 327 lives were lost in the disaster, while 13 people are still missing and 68 are being treated for their injuries. A total of 108,720 people were displaced by the Cianjur earthquake, currently living in shelters and evacuation sites.

On Monday, the coordination center for handling the disaster was shifted to the Regent of Cianjur, Herman Suherman. The reason is that the Cianjur earthquake is categorized as a local disaster, and so the BNPB gave the authority to coordinate all relief efforts to the local government.
