TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokesperson Ali Fikri on Thursday announced the arrest of 12 people in its latest sting operation (OTT) on Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi.
Those arrested by KPK were the Mayor, state apparatus within the Bekasi City administration, and people from the private sector. “So far, there are 12 people,” said the spokesman on January 6.
Ali said the KPK team is interrogating those who were arrested but suspects that Rahmat was involved in the bribery case for the procurement of goods and services, as well as the auction of positions in the Bekasi City Government.
"We will inform you of the progress," he said.
KPK commenced the sting operation on Wednesday, January 5, at 14:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). The Mayor was then taken to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters just hours before midnight.
