KPK Nabs Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi in Sting Operation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) launched a sting operation today afternoon, January 5, in Bekasi, West Java. Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi was reportedly apprehended during the raid.
Deputy chairman of the commission Nurul Ghufron did not deny when asked about the arrest of the mayor. “It is true that the KPK has arrested state officials of Bekasi, West Java,” said Ghufron on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
According to him, the anti-graft body also nabbed several other parties and confiscated money. The team of investigators is still examining the individuals in order to explore the allegations of corruption.
“Please be patient. We will inform [this case] after the inspection process completes,” Ghufron said.
