Downpour Causes Flooding in 7 RTs, 19 Roads in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The heavy rain showering Jakarta on Friday afternoon, October 16, 2020, has caused flooding in several city areas.

The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head of the Data and Information Center, M. Insaf, said that until 5 p.m., seven neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta and West Jakarta were inundated by floodwaters.

The written statement issued by the BPBD also reported that two RTs in Bangka sub-district of South Jakarta were flooded, each with a height of around 10-30 centimeters (cm) and 31-70 cm.

Meanwhile, there were five RTs in West Jakarta affected by the heavy rainfall. There were two RTs in Srengseng sub-district with the water level reaching 31 to 70 cm, one RT in Sukabumi Utara sub-district at 31-70 cm water level, and two RTs in Kebon Jeruk with floodwater level between 10 to 30 cm.

Additionally, the Jakarta BPBD also noted that 19 roads in East Jakarta, South Jakarta, West Jakarta, and Central Jakarta were flooded.
