TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two earthquakes occurred in two different locations today, April 24, 2019. A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Daruba, North Maluku shortly after 9:00. Earlier before dawn, an earthquake hit Sorong, West Papua with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale.

The BMKG stated that the earthquakes have no potential for tsunami.

BMKG reported that the quake in Daruba is centered in 2.29 North Latitude and 128.15 East Longitude with a depth of 100 km. The location of this earthquake is 31 km northwest of the city of Daraba.

Meanwhile, an earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale rocked Sorong Regency, West Papua on Wednesday at 01:15 local time.

According to BMKG Sorong's Geophysics Station, the earthquake was located at 0.61 South Latitude and 131.85 East Longitude within 68 km Northeast of Sorong Regency, it had a depth of 10 km.

Judging from the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquakes that occurred were shallow earthquakes that resulted from movements of the earth's plate.

So far, there has been no damage reports due to the earthquakes.
