TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Prabowo Argo Yuwono responded to the complaints from one of the inmates Ratna Sarumpaet.

Ratna had constantly filed for a house arrest since the suspect of hoax griped on the treatment she received, despite having been monitored by Argo himself.

According to Argo, Ratna Sarumpaet’s cell has been conditioned to differ from other inmates. “The point is that we have [treated her] according to the rules, but if she wants to have it like at home, my message is that don’t end up in prison the first place,” he said at his office on Tuesday, April 2.

Argo said that Ratna’s cell adheres to existing standards set by the Law and Human Rights Ministry where several convenience features exist such as a bed, two daily food supply schedules and one snack, ventilation, up to air conditioning.

He also revealed that Ratna Sarumpaet’s cell is intentionally only filled with 5 inmates to maximize the air circulation, even though it is designed to accommodate 14 people.

In a trial on Tuesday, Ratna said she will submit another request for house arrest, blaming the lack of ventilation in her cell.
