TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pati District Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) official Instagram account stated that it had just arrested a man named Legiman on Saturday, January 13, a rich beggar reportedly owns millions of rupiah.

During the agency’s routine operation against homeless people, beggars, and derelicts, Legiman was caught with a large sum of money in his pocket that amounted to Rp659,000.

“We were surprised by this, we counted a total of Rp659,000 that was kept in his pocket,” as stated in the caption of the @satpol_pp post.

In further questioning, the overnight sensation confessed that he owned other assets amounting to a fantastic value. He claimed to have a BRI Bank account with Rp900 million worth of saving, added to his recent purchase on a piece of land worth Rp280 million.

The Satpol PP Instagram account eventually reminded the public to refrain from giving money to these types of beggars and recalled the Regional Decree No.7/2018 that punishes beggars and people that hand money to beggars.

“You’re mistaken to think that beggars come from the poor. He’s begging because he’s lazy but wants to obtain large sums of money instantly. That is why we urge you to think again before giving them money,” the Instagram post concluded.
