TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - The South Tangerang Public Works Agency cut down disordered internet poles and cables along Jalan WR Supratman on Tuesday, September 21.
“The internet providers did not heed the mutual agreement to immediately tidy up the cables and poles on the road,” said the agency head Aries Kurniawan in a written statement received by Tempo on Wednesday.
The removal of the internet poles was executed together with the Public Order Agency or Satpol PP. According to Aries, several internet providers had moved their poles and cables some time ago and several others asked for more time.
In the previous meeting with the city administration, the providers agreed to move the poles and tidy up the cables along the road before Monday, September 20, 2021.
“We are sorry for those who have not moved the poles yet. We prioritize the safety of road users and pedestrians,” Aries remarked.
He explained the step was taken after his team found out on Monday that the internet poles had not been arranged as promised. The agency, he added, would remove the internet cables within two weeks.
Previously on August 20, 2021, the South Tangerang City Public Works Service along with the sub-district head and East Ciputat civilian security guard or Trantib summoned a number of internet providers at the East Ciputat sub-district hall regarding the disordered internet poles.
