TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) Head Arifin said the agency would beef up patrols to prevent violations and the monitoring over the distribution of alcoholic beverages as well as immoral practices during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
Satpol PP also cooperated with the Social Service Agency to oversee people with community or social issues (PMKS) whose number often increases during the fasting month. “We will patrol a number of PMKS locations, we will educate them later,” said Arifin in Jakarta, Monday, March 21.
In the brief of the preparedness of the personnel for Ramadan in the Monas area, Arifin asked his men to supervise the sales of alcoholic drinks and PMKS.
“I ask all to remind and educate people so that all can perform their religious activities comfortably and peacefully during Ramadan,” he asserted.
Arifin also reminded Satpol PP officers not to be arrogant in taking action against violators. “We must protect the community, remind them, educate them to understand and comply with regional regulations,” he added.
In monitoring public order during Ramadan, Satpol PP will be assisted by joint personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the National Police.
