TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asserts that the person responsible for attacking one of its senior investigators, Novel Baswedan, should be brought to justice without having to wait for the 2019 presidential election debate to address this pressing issue.

Reportedly, KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo is pitched to become one of the debate panelist in the presidential debate. With the KPK Chairman being one of the panelist, the upcoming Presidential Debate may address the Novel Baswedan attack case.

“We strongly demand that Novel’s attacker would be found without having to wait for the debate on January 17,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah at the KPK headquarters on January 7.

According to Febri, KPK as an organization has provided additional protection for Novel Baswedan after the acid attack that was done against him on April 11, 2017, along with the rest of KPK employees.

The pressure to throw questions related to safety for authorities, especially KPK, during the presidential debate came from the organization’s employee society. They deemed that debate panelists must ask presidential candidates upon their seriousness to solve the country’s problems related to corruption.
