TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hinted that it may refer to a law article concerning obstruction of justice in the investigation on the attack of its senior investigator Novel Baswedan.
"We will surely follow up the recommendation issued by the National Commission for Human Rights by drafting a legal step to investigate a possible issue of obstruction of justice," said KPK deputy commissioner Saut Situmorang in his office on Friday, December 21, 2018.
Saut said that the KPK would review the case handled by Novel to find out which case has a potential to trigger the attack.
Earlier, Komnas HAM delivered its final report related to the acid attack. Komna HAM commissioner Sandrayati Moniaga said that the report noted two recommendations for the anti-graft body to solve the case.
Komnas HAM suggested that KPK should plan legal steps for the attack case and enhance the security measure for all KPK officials. She explained the incident probably an effort to hinder the legal proceedings for the case examined by Novel.
A year has passed since the attack against KPK investigator Novel Baswedan committed by unknown people occurred on April 11, 2017. He was splashed with acidic liquid that caused serious injury on both of his eyes. At that time, Novel investigated the corruption of the electronic ID card project.
