Sequential Earthquake Jolts Southwest Sumba and Badung, Bali

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The earthquake jolted Southwest Sumba District, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, and Badung Regency, Bali, within a short time interval on late Tuesday, October 16.
The official page of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded the 4.9 magnitude quake hit Southwest Sumba district at 11:26 p.m.
The epicenter located at 9.86 degrees south latitude and 118.82 degrees east longitude or in the sea of about 50 kilometers southwest of Southwest Sumba was at a depth of 44 kilometers.
The tremors were felt in Bima District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Dompu District (NTB), and Waikeko, classified on scale III in the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI).
Previously, the 2.9 magnitude earthquake shook Badung Regency, Bali, on late Tuesday at 23:01 local times. The earthquake was located at 8.81 degrees south latitude and 115.11 degrees east longitude with a depth of 13 kilometers.
The earthquake epicenter was on the land, 26 kilometers southwest of Badung and the tremor also felt in Kuta, Nusa Dua, and Jimbaran on scale III of the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI).
