TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The leak of 12-kilogram LPG canister caused an explosion that broke 11 shophouses at the Grand Wijaya Center in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

“The glass windows at 11 shophouses were broken and some are cracked (due to explosion),” said Head of Public Relations Jakarta Police Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono at Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 12.

The incident took place at Grand Wijaya Center Shophouses, Jl. Wijaya II Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Thursday, July 12 at 04:20. The explosion came from the property consultant's shophouse.

Besides the shophouses, some cars parked 20 meters away from the source of the blast were also damaged, Argo added.

However, there were no casualties. Several traders who were in the vicinity of the explosion site suffered minor injuries due to glass splinters. “We've treated them,” said the police.

Argo said the police had requested information related to the Grand Wijaya incident from five people, namely the occupant of the shophouses, security guard, and traders who opened stalls around the scene.
