Hallway Collapsed, Hundreds Evacuated from BEI Building

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hundreds of people were evacuated from the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) building after the hallway inside the building collapsed today. An eyewitness named Indra said the collapsed part was in Tower 2 BEI, South Jakarta.
The collapsed hallway connects the space of The Indonesia Capital Market Institute (TICMI) with a building lift. The incident occurred at around 12:00 pm. "The police are just coming in. The evacuation is still done by the security guard, building management, and SCBD security," he said on Monday, January 15.

The evacuation is still going on because the victims are still inside the building. As for the ruins of the bridge is seen falling to the registration desk in the lobby of the building.
According to Indra, some of the victims are students who are visiting the BEI. But he cannot confirm the origin of the college students.
Related to the collapsed hallway inside the Tower 2 of the BEI Building, the stock exchange authority reverses the second session's trade up to an hour ahead. "IDX Trading Monday (15/1) Session II will be postponed for 1 hour due to force majeure reasons," as quoted from information broadcasted by IDX Public Relations. "Update information will be informed later. Thank you."
Regional Police spokesman of Metro Jaya Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono confirmed that there is a part of the canopy inside the BEI building that collapsed. Police have come to the scene.
So far, the police are still investigating the alleged cause of the collapsed canopy near the BEI Starbucks cafe. "We still have not got data of the victims yet," he said. Police have installed police lines to do the investigation.
