TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) secretly conducted function tests on 10 mobile cranes at Pelindo II, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
The function tests were conducted by experts at three locations, namely at Nusantara Port, Pombo Port and Ingom Port. However, the tests were closed for journalists without celar reasons.
When Tempo tried to enter the ports, several officers asked questions about the purpose of the visits. After some explanations, the officers asked Tempo to apply for permits to the Port of Tanjung Priok (PTP) Management.
After waiting for an hour, officers at PTP explained that they could not issue the permit since the PTP public relation staff was out of the office. Pelindo II Corporate Secretary Banu Astrini confirmed that journalists were not allowed to cover the test.
“Bareskrim requested it. We weren’t even allowed to tape [the tests],” Banu explained.
