Port Authority Threatens Pelindo II

17 January 2014 11:38 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The strike organized by the Workers Union of state-owned port management company Pelabuhan Indonesia II (SPPI II) has disturbed all activities in one part of Tanjung Priok port and has prompted port authorities to react.

According to the Supervisor of SPPI II Hendra Budi, port authorities have approached union members who were orating in the scouting office.

"We were given a warning by port authorities [OP]," he said to Tempo on Thursday, January 16, 2014.

He said that OP has threatened to revoke supervision authorities of Pelindo II. Despite the threat, Hendra confirmed that they will continue to hold strikes.

He further argued that the strike was supposed to be a signal to the government, particularly the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, to settle this matter accordingly.
