TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The President Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III, Djarwo Surjanto, said the company obtained US$ 121 millions in foreign loans from Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank in London, England. The loans, according to Djarwo, will be used to procure 10 units of Ship to Shore Crane (STS) and 20 units of Automated Stacking Crane (ASC).
The machinery will be operated in Teluk Lamong Terminal, Surabaya, which is currently under construction. According to Djarwo, the loans were structured as an export credit scheme through the Finnish insurance agency Finnvera. “The interest rate is 1.39 percent and the payment term is seven years,” Djarwo said yesterday in a press conference at JW Marriott Hotel, Jakarta.
Husein Latief, the Commercial and Business Development Director of Pelindo III, said the equipment used in Teluk Lamong Terminal will be environmentally friendly, in accordance with the Green Port concept.
Teluk Lamong Terminal will be developed in phases. In the first phase, 38.8 hectares of area will be built and become operational in 2014. The second will be completed in 2016, with a total size of 50 hectares, and will continue until it reaches 386.12 hectares.
The first phase requires approximately Rp 3.4 trillion (around US$ 289.4 million). Husein said the development of Teluk Lamong Terminal will continue until 2030.
