Iraq Admits Needing Aid in Air Support during AAC

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said in the Senior Official Meeting of Asia-Africa Conference that his country is in desperate need of security assistance, military and weapons, especially in air support.

Iraq is in need of intelligence information and humanitarian assistance from various countries including Indonesia, as they have about 2 million refugees, Foreign Minister Ibrahim said on Sunday.

The support is in a joint effort to prevent global terrorism and radical groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Ibrahim also mentioned the cultural approach against ISIS is by knowing their backgrounds and from the reflection of ISIS itself.

A dissemination is needed which raises the value of Islam altruism and tolerant of different opinions, and simultaneously to eliminate misperceptions on Islam.

The 60th Asia-Africa Conference is held in Jakarta and Bandung from April 19 to 24 and participated by 32 head of states and 86 representatives from China, North Korea, Iran, Myanmar, Sudan, Egypt and Palestine.
