TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, along with 1,600 volunteers, cleaned up a number of spots in Bandung City, West Java, to prepare for the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) to be held on April 24, 2015. Ridwan also involved security personnel, the National Search and Resque Agency and neighborhood guards from all districts in the city.

“The infrastructure improvement project has progressed to 90 percent construction. We need to help with the paint and cleanup jobs. The works can’t be done if we only rely on contractors,” Ridwan said on Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Bandung.

About a thousand soldiers and 850 police officers helped the volunteers to paint one hundred old buildings at Jalan Asia-Afrika, Bandung.

According to Ridwan, the AAC preparation is expected to complete by April 18, 2015. Ridwan added that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has been scheduled to visit Bandung for a rehearsal.
