TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Lieutenant General Ret. Purnawirawan Marciano Norman said that security in Jakarta and Bandung was already safe prior to the 60^th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference (AAC), which is to be held from April 19 to 24, 2015.

"On the whole, Indonesia is also safe," he said after a meeting with West Java Governor kata Ahmad Heryawan at Pakuan building in Bandung on Friday.

Marciano’s visit to Bandung was the follow-up of President Joko Widodo’s inspection to check the preparation for the conference.

According to Marciano, several aspects still have to be improved and coordinated the Chief of Siliwangi Regional Military Commander and Chief of West Java Police.

"So far, there are no strong indications yet that the conference will fact barriers," he said.

Echoing similar sentiment, West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan confirmed that situation in Bandung is safe. Ahmad also said that since the participants attending the conference are world leaders, security measures to be in place are in the highest level.

He also said that security measure would become a top priority. The meeting with BNN Head on Friday, he said, was to discuss details to secure world leaders attending the conference.

At least 33 world leaders are scheduled to attend the conference.
