TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential chief of staff Luhut Binsar Panjaitan claimed that the government has managed to save the budget for the 60th Asia-Africa Conference that was previously earmarked at Rp200 billion (US$15.4 million).
“We managed to save the budget quite significantly. So, there are several things that we don’t have to pay for,” Luhut said at the Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, April 18, 2015, without specifying how much did the government save.
Luhut confirmed that the AAC budget, taken from the Revised State Budget 2015, has been disbursed.
Luhut, along with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, State Secretary Partikno, and Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, on Saturday accompanied Vice President Jusuf “JK” Kalla for a rehearsal. JK inspected Halim Perdanakusuma airport’s preparation to welcome foreign delegations. The opening ceremony of the 60th AAC is scheduled to kick off on April 19, 2015 at the Jakarta Convention Center.
