TEMPO.CO, Makassar - The Makassar Region V Airport authorities have deployed a small team to probe the recent collapse of a hangar structure at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar on Monday.

“Officers from South and West Sulawesi police have also conducted field inspection,” said Region V Airport authorities spokesperson Tamar Huda on Monday.

Tamar said the hangar's contruction, carried out by contractor PT Nurjaya Kontraktor, had been 75 percent completed. “The construction will be halted until indefinite time,” said Tamar.

Tamar continued that the police would quiz the person in charge of the project after finishing their field inspection. “But there’s no call for questioning yet.”

The hangar structure at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport broke at around 9:30 a.m. local time, killing five and injuring 14 others.

The victims were rushed to different hospitals, among them to Bhayangkara Hospital, Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, Air Force Hospital and Daya Hospital.

Aditya Chandra, an employee at PT Duta Hita Jaya, said there were around 50 workers in the project, most of them hailing from Java and Sumatra. They work as helpers and erectors of the hangar and are housed in a near Sultan Hasanuddin Airport.
