MH370 Disappearance Ruled as 'Accident', Search Resumes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been officially ruled as an accident, in accordance to Article 12 and 13 of the Chicago Convention. That said, the search of the missing aircraft is set to continue.
Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahma, Director General for Civil Aviation (DCA), said at a press conference on Thursday, January 29, 2015, that after having been declared missing for 327 days, and based on all facts available at present, the chance for survival is rated as 'extremely unlikely', as a result, all 239 passengers were declared to have lost their lives in the incident.
"However, the investigation and search for the missing aircraft is set to continue," said Azharuddin, as quoted by The StarOnline.
The announcement of the official statement by Malaysian authorities means that the family's of victims could begin to receive compensation from Malaysia Airlines.
Azharuddin also said that Malaysia Airlines is ready to commit to the compensation process, and said that it would take into account the situation of the victims' next of kin.
Flight MH370 was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, China, when it was declared missing on March 8, 2014 while carrying 239 passengers and crews on board.
