TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A typical snack from the Sunda region, cireng (fried starch), has been popular since the 1980s. The snack is made from a mixed dough of starch, wheat flour, water, pepper, salt, garlic, and leek commonly served with chili sauce. Nowadays, cireng has become a popular snack for breaking the fast.

1. Warung Upnormal
Aside from serving contemporer dishes, several cafes of Warung Upnormal in Jakarta also offer cireng as their best-selling snack, including the one at Wahid Hasyim and Cikini, Central Jakarta.
The cafe serves cireng with rujak sauce (chili sauce for Indonesian fruit salad called rujak). The snack is quite flavored without additional MSG. The price is set at Rp27,000 per dish for 3-4 people.
2. Warung Big Buddy
This cafe on Jl. Sekretaris, Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta has opened on April 30. Cireng, as its flagship menu, is served with rujak sauce similar to that of Warung Upnormal and is priced at Rp16,000. Warung Big Buddy also presents live music from local musicians every Saturday night.

3. Kedai Cireng Keraton
This franchise stall has currently opened at Festival Go-Food, Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan. Kedai Cireng Keraton offers cireng in various flavors, such as hot beef, hot oncom (Sundanese traditional staple food), cheese, BBQ, and pizza. One cireng is priced at Rp6,000. Visitors can enjoy cireng while sitting on the bean bags provided in the park.
