TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian returned to the Mobile Brigade headquarters (Mako Brimob) in Depok, West Java, today, May 11. This was his second visit since a riot broke in the headquarters of the police’s elite force.

Tito's entourage, consisting of seven cars and seven police motorbikes, arrived at around 13:40 local time.

The riot at Mako Brimob's detention center broke on Tuesday between terror inmates and policemen. Five police officers and one inmate died in the incident, while a police officer who was being held hostage managed to get rescued.

Tito first came to the headquarters on Wednesday night after the police managed to take the situation under control.

During Wednesday's visit, Tito said the police needed to be thorough and careful in investigating the incident because not all terror convicts were involved. "Some agreed to commit an act of violence while others didn’t," Tito said on Wednesday, May 10.

Hours after Tito left, another incident occurred, killing a Brimob intelligence officer, Brig. Marhum Prencje. He was stabbed by a man, Tendi Sumarno, who was later shot dead.

Tendi's motive for attacking Marhum is not yet known, but it is assumed that his presence there was related to the riot.
